Punjab's Delightful Lentil

Authentically… North Indian!

Namaste Friends of The Raj

There are a number of variations of lentils that are used within Indian kitchens all around the world, but today I’d like to pay tribute to our bestseller.

Know as the liquid gold of our kitchen, Dhal Makhani is undeniably a vegetarian curry that has won the heart of many.

The dish is said to have been invented by Chef and Restauranteur, Kundan Lal Gujral from New Delhi.

The curry consists of black lentils cooked overnight over a slow fire with herbs and spices added once the lentils have reached the correct consistency. Upon serving the dish, fresh cream is drizzled for an extra silky finish.

Whether you are a vegetarian or not, Dhal Makhani is a curry that is 100% your next comfort food ‘go to’!

So the next time you close to any of our Raj restaurants and you in the mood for something you haven’t tried before, I highly recommend this offering.

As the curry is accompanied by basmati rice, it is also best enjoyed with a Laccha Paratha, for extra taste indulgence.
