Authentically… North Indian!
Namaste Friends of The Raj
Today’s blog has to give honor to a versatile legume, the chickpea. Without a doubt, The Raj would like to introduce both existing and new guests to a indulgent vegetarian dish, namely Chole Bhatura.
It is a popular North Indian breakfast ‘street food’ dish enjoyed predominantly in Punjab, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
This dish has two comforting food components. Perfectly spiced chickpeas tossed in a masala gravy of onions, tomatoes, chili and ginger. Its best served with a deep-fried, delicately crisp bread made from maida, known as bhatura. The level of spice is best enjoyed medium to hot. To compliment the dish, a drink named lassi will enhance the flavors of the meal. A lassi is a traditional Punjabi milk based drink consisting of yoghurt, water and spices.
Chole Bhatura can be enjoyed by both vegetarian and non vegetarian guests. It is a dish that guests have come to enjoy, as a starter or an accompaniment to a main meal.
To all guests who would like to enjoy the best of North Indian street food, we look forward to serving you. We can guarantee you will be returning again and again.
