Authentically… North Indian!
Namaste Friends of The Raj
Whether you are a child or an adult, a vegetarian or not, our Punjabi Samoosas are without a doubt a delight.
These pur-filled, triangular shaped nuggets of deliciousness are a great favourite at the restaurant. The pocket is filled with a potato and pea mixture, with added notes of cumin seeds and spices. Upon serving, this trio of starter, is served with our homemade Tamarind sauce.
We are extremely proud of our quality and standard of this item and they are prepared at our Central Kitchen in Johannesburg. With the popularity of this menu item, our Chef crafts in excess of 3000 per week, to keep up with the demand from the group of restaurants under The Raj brand.
As I enjoy giving a bit of historical information with each of my blog’s, let me share an informative fact with you.
This crispy treat was introduced to the continent of India during the 13th century by Chefs from Central Asia and the Middle East. The Chefs cooked for the rulers in Delhi and so this popular food item was introduced throughout Indian kitchens.
We, at The Raj, are proud to introduce to guests who may not be aware, that we have 3 other craft samoosa variations, namely Chicken, Lamb and Corn.
Friends, upon your next visit, order your starter portion and enjoy a 13th century crunch sensation.
